Happy Birthday Harrison

Oh, my sweet boy.  I can not believe you are TWO!  These two years have flown by, yet at the same time it seems like you have always been a part of my life.  You bless me with cheesy grins, precious bear hugs, and silly laughs on a daily basis.  You bring so much joy to my life.  Daddy and I love to sit back and just watch you.  You are learning like crazy these days.  Right now I am trying to teach you your letters and numbers.  You can identify H, O, B, and R.  You know how to say your name (and every time you tell a stranger, they all say the same thing..."Well that's a big name for a little boy".) and you tell them you are two.  Your speech has taken off in the last two months and you are talking in 3 and 4 word sentences (sometimes decipherable by only yours truly, but decipherable nonetheless).  You now have an imagination and you use that imagination when you play by yourself and with others.  You are quite creative!  You love to play with others, but mommy is having to teach you how to play with little girls (for some reason you like to kiss them....Seriously? Already?!?)  You walk around church on Sunday mornings and shake hands with everyone you can.  You are totally an attention hog and a little entertainer.  Your independence grows on a daily basis, but at the end of the day you still like to be held and to twirl my hair.  You enjoy bath time way too much.  I made up a special song for when we brush your teeth and you love it.  You will do anything if there is music involved.  A couple of your favorite songs right now are Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and This little light of mine.  Unless you are really tired, you listen very well and sometimes surprise me by how much you understand.  You love your sister and take care of her by rocking her, covering her with blankets, burping her, and getting me when she cries.  You are so easy going and cooperative.  You are constantly smiling and are always getting compliments on how happy you are.  But what I love the most is that you are a very loving child.

Things I don't want to forget:
Instead of saying I want, you say "I see"
You call trucks "dutch"
You point out trucks and jeeps when we are in the car
You ramble and tell HUGE stories even though not much is understandable and it sounds Chinese
You like to play pretend and put mommy and daddy down for a nap
You say Dey instead of Yay
You love to give other kids hugs
You like to drink coffee (I let you try it once thinking you wouldn't like it, but you loved it)
You call water "a-gone-gone" and a drink "gink"
You play very well by yourself, and I am so thankful for that while I nurse Harper
You already know how to work my iPhone
When other kids are around, you refer to Harper as "My Baby"
You know how to work the vacuum and dust buster!
You sleep from 10pm to 9 am and take a 2-3 hour nap
You are a good eater and not picky at all!!
Your treats are Popsicles and gummies
You have an adorable under bite, but I hope you grow out of it
You like being scared
Your laugh is so contagious

Splish Splash I was taking a bath....

Tonight Harrison and Harper took their first bath together!  If this is a sign of future bath times, then bath time might be my new favorite time of day.  Our little bathroom was filled with smiles, giggles and splashes.  Harrison loved having someone to play with in the tub, while Harper stayed entertained by Harrison's splashes and laughs.  Don't believe me?  See for yourself :)

Tickled Tuesday

Yesterday I sneezed and it turned out to be the best sneeze ever.  That one little "ah choo" got my baby girl laughing harder than I have ever seen her laugh.  What was even more amazing was that Harrison got in on the action AND I had my video camera handy!  I am about to share with you one of my all time favorite moments.  As a mommy, I will always remember the first time I had both of my babies laughing together.  Enjoy!

Vacation

Matt and I took the kids to Florida last week and enjoyed a wonderful trip with his parents.  If you want a relaxing vacation with your children....going with grandparents is the way to go! :)  It was such a wonderful break from reality.  We needed this little get away to recharge.  Matt has a lot on his plate right now with a new job (big post coming up on this!) and since we purchased our plane tickets about five months ago, we figured we would make use of an already paid for trip.  As it turns out, we were able to relax and thoroughly enjoy ourselves.  Noni and Gimpa (Matt's parents) had a great time with the kids, and I got some serious R & R.  I read The Help (which I highly recommend....could not put it down) and had I not been with my wonderful mother in law, I would not have had the time or energy for a book.  Another perk to vacationing with Noni and Gimpa?  Built in babysitters!  Matt and I enjoyed several date nights and late night Backgammon games. Noni, I know you are reading this.  So THANK YOU!!!  Thank you for making our trip so enjoyable!

Harper got her toes wet and enjoyed the warm water of the gulf!

Noni and Harper at St Armands

This kid had so much fun playing with his daddy.  They swam in the pool, the ocean, wrestled, and just played together.  It was precious.

Harper's first time in a real swing!

The Wade Boys :)

We didn't have the best weather.  Unfortunately we caught the tail end of Tropical Storm Lee and it caused some pretty rough waters, overcast skies, and rainy days.  This is a picture of the "beach".  Normally when you walk down these stairs there is about 20 yards of sand before you reach the water, but as you can see here, the water was really high!

Here is my sweet little family enjoying a beautiful sunset after a day of rain.  Watching the sun set over the water will never get old!

Who needs TV?

Our family took a much needed break from reality.  One morning, Harrison found a friend/entertainment with a bird that was waiting for some snacks.  He thought this long legged feathered friend was pretty amazing and followed him around for a good while.  Sometimes I really wish I knew what that sweet boy was thinking.  Oh to see the world through a child's eyes again :)

St Armands

Eight years ago, Matt and I stood at this very beach and enjoyed a beautiful sunset.  Moments later, he dropped to one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.  I had no idea what my life would look like eight years later, but I do know I have everything I ever dreamed of.  What a special moment this was to go back and visit this beach.  The soft sand and blue water of St Armands will always have a very special place in my heart!
